PM mourns death of Bangabandhu's PS Anu

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed deep shock at the death of AM Nurul Islam Anu, the private secretary (PS) to Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and founding president of US chapter Awami League.


In a condolence message, the premier recalled with profound respect the contributions of Anu to organizing Awami League abroad. "We've lost a dedicated politician and an efficient organizer in his death," she added.


Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her deep sympathy to the bereaved family, BSS reports. 


Anu breathed his last at the United Hospital in Dhaka this morning while he was undergoing treatment there.


He suffered a cardiac arrest on Thursday and was on life support in the CCU of the hospital.
