Golam Maula Roni, aspiring candidate with BNP ticket from Patuakhali-3, has been cleared to run for the 11th parliamentary election slated to be held on December 30.

The Election Commission (EC) cleared him off the rejection list after holding appeal hearing at the commission’s Agargaon office on Thursday morning.

Earlier on Sunday, Returning Officer of Patuakhali cancelled Roni's nomination paper during the scrutiny process as there was no sign on affidavit.

Later, the previous Awami League lawmaker who changed sides to run in the upcoming general election with the BNP ticket, filed an appeal with the EC to get back his candidacy.
