BB removes NRB Commercial Bank MD

Bangladesh Bank has removed NRB Commercial Bank’s Managing Director Dewan Mujibur Rahman over loan scams.
A letter in this regard has been sent to him on Wednesday, said Suvangkar Saha, spokesperson and executive director of the central bank.
Bangladesh Bank removed NRB Commercial Bank’s MD in pursuance of section 46 (1) of the Bank Company Act.
Earlier, the central bank removed BASIC Bank Chairman Sheikh Abdul Hye Bachchu in the same procedure.
The central bank sent a notice to Mujibur on March 20 referring his incapacity to perform responsibilities in protecting the interest of depositors. According to the notice, relevance of Muzibul was found in loan scams and irregularities involving TK 749 crore.
