3 killed in Sirajganj road crash

Three people were killed and three others injured after a pickup van collided head-on with a bus in Sirajganj’s Tarash upazila on Thursday morning.  

The accident took place on the Natore-Bonpara highway in Khalkhula area around 7:15am.

The dead have been identified as Gupindranath Sarker, 40, a lecturer of Mowlana Saif Uddin Ahia Degree College in Shahjadpur, Sohag Hossain, 22, son of Ghargram village's Dulal Ahmed, and Renuka Khatun, 38, wife of Abdul Mannan Mandal of Ambaria village.  

Abdul Quader Jilani, OC of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station, said a Natore-bound speeding bus of Mamun Paribahan collided head-on with a Tarash-bound pickup van in the area, leaving Gupindranath dead on the spot.

Sohag and Renuka died on the way to hospital, said the OC adding that the bus and pickup van have been seized but its drivers managed to flee.
