AL starts selling nomination papers
The ruling Awami League started selling the party’s nomination papers for the 11th parliamentary election on Friday morning.
The selling started with the purchase of two nomination papers on behalf of Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at AL president’s Dhanmondi political office at around 10:00am.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader brought the nomination forms for the party chief and handed it over to the party religious affairs secretary Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.
A total of eight booths for the eight divisions have been opened at the AL office. Meanwhile, the nomination aspirants of the party gathered there along with their activists and supporters.
After inaugurating the sale of nomination forms, Obaidul Quader said the selling of nomination forms started amid huge enthusiasm of the party followers.
The party has fixed Tk 30,000 as the price for each nomination form.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda yesterday announced the polls schedule setting December 23 for the 11th parliamentary election.
As per the schedule, the last date of submission of nomination papers is November 19 and the scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on November 22. The deadline for withdrawal of candidature is November 29.
