Members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in several
anti-drug drives arrested 39 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs
in the last 24 hours.
The drives were carried out simultaneously at different parts of the metropolis from 6am on Friday to 6am on Saturday, according to a DMP release.
During the anti-drug drives, police seized 2,049 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 53 grams of heroin, 6.465 kilograms of cannabis (ganja), and alcohol, the release added.
Police filed 25 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
