54 arrested in DMP anti-drug drives

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 54 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in the capital in the last 24 hours.

Several drives were carried out simultaneously at different parts of the metropolis from 6am on Sunday to 6am on Monday, according to a DMP release.

During the anti-drug drives, police seized 2,422 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 4.3 kg of cannabis (ganja), 250.4 grams of heroin, and 10 injections, the release added.

Police filed 40 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
