Members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in several
anti-drug drives arrested 41 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs
in the last 24 hours.
The drives were carried out simultaneously at different
parts of the metropolis from 6am on Sunday to 6am on Monday, according to a DMP
release.
During the anti-drug drives, police seized 6,266 pieces of
contraband yaba tablets, 153.5 grams of heroin, 37.40 kilograms of cannabis
(ganja), and 90 bottles of Phensedyl, the release added.
Police filed 36 separate cases against the arrestees in
these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control
Act.
