Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has decided to take the admission test for the first year admission seekers.
The decision was made at a meeting of the Academic Council of BUET on Wednesday, said its education council member and student welfare director Professor Mizanur Rahman.
The examination would be held as per the system of previous years, he said.
Due to BUET's decision, it is not joining the initiative of the University Grants Commission (UGC) which is planning to conduct an integrated admission test for all universities across the country.
At a meeting held at UGC on February 12, it was decided to take integrated admission tests in all public universities of the country.
Although the vice-chancellors of Dhaka University, BUET, Jahangirnagar University and Chittagong University were present at the meeting, but they did not give their conclusions about the admission test centrally.
However, they said at the meeting that the academic meeting of the universities would decide their position in this regard.
