Travel ban on 2 MPs among 22 graft suspects
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has imposed travel restriction on 22 graft suspects, including two lawmakers of the ruling Awami League government.
The two MPs are - Whip of the Parliament and MP of Chittagong-12 constituency Shamsul Haque Chowdhury; and Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon, MP of Bhola-3.
The travel ban was issued so that they, who reportedly accumulated illegal wealth through Casino business, cannot go abroad. Of them, a number of graft suspects have already been arrested.
ACC director Syed Iqbal Hossain has sent a letter to the special police super (immigration) of Special Branch (SB) in this regard.
In its letter, the ACC said there were allegations of money laundering against them and the commission in its preliminary probe found that they siphoned off money abroad.
The graft suspects are now trying to flee the country, the letter read.
On September 30 last, the anti-corruption watchdog launched a probe against those who amassed illegal wealth through Casino business.
