Elderly Rabeya Khatun exempted from arms case

The High Court has exempted old-aged Ashitipar Rabeya Khatun from arms case filed against her in 2002.
The HC bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Md Riaz Uddin Khan passed the order on Wednesday.
Lawyer Ashraful Alam Nobel moved for the petition while Deputy Attorney Gneral Harun or Rashid argued for the state.
Following a report published in the Daily Samakal on April 25 this year, Ashraful Alam Nobel applied to the High Court seeking her exemption from the charge.
The court issued the rule on April 30 and adjourned the proceedings of the case for three months.
The final hearing of the case was held on October 15 and October 30 was set to deliver the verdict.
The court, in its verdict, said that Rabeya Khatun will not have to go to court in this case.
On June 2 in 2002, police seized firearms and bullets from a residence of Garden Road area under Tejgaon Police Station..
Later on that day, a case was filed with Tejgaon Police Station against Rabeya and two others.
Later, police arrested Rabeya Khatun .After serving 6-month in jail, she was released from jail upon bail.
