Barishal Bureau

Barishal Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Yamin Chowdhury has ordered the authorities concerned to take people forcefully to cyclone shelters if they are reluctant to move there voluntarily.

The direction came from an urgent meeting held at the Circuit House in the city on Saturday noon.

The meeting was called to discuss the ways of tackling the cyclone 'Bulbul' which is approaching to the coastal districts of Bangladesh.

Yamin Chowdhury told the reporters that people would be forced to move cyclone centres as people in some coastal areas are reluctant to leave their belongings and go to the shelters.

The law enforcers have been asked to be kept alert to save people's belongings and their movable properties.

He informed that there are 2,114 cyclone shelters in Barishal division where some 17.83 lakh people can take shelter.
