Students not allowed to stage demo at JU
The authorities of Jahangirnagar University have asked the students to leave the campus.
The direction came on Wednesday night following the demonstration staged by the protesting students, said a JU press release.
The JU authorities asked the students to leave the campus by 3:30 pm on the day. It also cautioned that legal action would be taken if students are found in the dormitories after the deadline.
Later, the students started leaving the campus but the protesting students gathered in front of the old administrative building of the university and staged demonstration and declared not to leave campus.
Under the circumstances, the authorities asked them to leave the campus area.
The students and teachers of JU were staging demos demanding removal of VC Prof Farzana Islam on the charge of alleged corruption.
Earlier, the authorities declared the university closed for indefinite period and asked the students to vacate the halls.
