Wari put under lockdown
Wari area of the capital has been put under lockdown for the next 21 days from Saturday to prevent the transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Tipu Sultan Road, Jahangir Road, Dhaka-Sylhet Highway from Baldha Garden to Joy Kali Temple, Lalmini Road, Hare Road, War Road, Rankin Road and Nawab Road will be come under lockdown.
At this time there will be strict restrictions on movement in these areas. If any of the residents of the area want to go out in case of emergency, they will need a valid document on their causes. E-commerce has the facility to deliver emergency items to homes. Apart from drug stores, shops and religious institutions will also be closed.
There will be 21 days’ general holiday in the lockdown areas. All government and private offices and factories in the area will be closed. Government officials and employees who live in these areas will also be on leave.
Meanwhile, the city corporation has been making dwellers of the area aware of the lockdown through loudspeaker.
On June 30, DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh told reporters that Wari area will go under lockdown from 6 am on July 4 to July 25 in order stem the transmission of coronavirus which has already created a havoc across the globe.
