COVID-19: 50 die, 1,918 infected

Bangladesh has recorded 50 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths and 1,918 fresh cases in the last 24 hours.


Additional Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Nasima Sultana told a virtual media briefing at DGHS in the city on Tuesday afternoon.


The recovery count rose to 139,860 after another 1,955 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.


She said the tally of infections has surged to 2,44,020  with the latest 1,918 new cases.


The health official also informed that a total of 7,712 samples were tested at 83 authorized laboratories across the country during the time.


The first COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the country on March 8.
