The Appellate Division has upheld the High Court order that granted eight-week anticipatory bail to Faridpur-4 lawmaker Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury, popularly known as Nixon Chowdhury.

Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Md Nuruzzaman passed 'no order' on Thursday after hearing a petition.

So, the order means the eight-week anticipatory bail granted by the High Court remains in force.

Earlier on Tuesday, the High Court had granted conditional eight-week anticipatory bail to Nixon Chowdhury in the case.

Assistant Attorney General M Saiful Alam appeared for the state in court on Thursday while lawyers Baset Majumder and Sayeed Ahmed were in favor of Nixon Chowdhury.

Faridpur senior election officer Nawabul Islam filed the case against MP Nixon Chowdhury with Charbhadrasan Police Station on October 15 over violation of electoral code of conducts.
