An air conditioner (AC) blast occurred at the visa processing office of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) embassy in the capital Gulshan.

One person was killed and six others were injured in the incident. The injured were taken to the United Hospital.

Fire Service Control Room official Rashed Sikder confirmed the information to The Daily Samakal.

He said it was initially thought that the AC blast may have caused the casualties.

The UAE Visa Processing Centre is housed in a multi-storey building called Empori Financial Centre in Gulshan-2. However, the main embassy or ambassador's residence is not in this area.
