Lockdown could extend for another week
The government is considering extending the ongoing ‘comprehensive lockdown’ for another week to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
A senior cabinet official on Saturday said the ongoing lockdown could be extended for another week due to the high increase in coronavirus infection.
A meeting has been called next Monday to review the lockdown situation, he said, adding that the next decision on the lockdown would be taken there.
The government has announced strict restrictions since last Wednesday in the wake of upward transmission of coronavirus in the country. This restriction is termed 'complete lockdown'.
The ban will be in force for seven days from 6 am on Wednesday to 12 midnight on April 21. However, industrial factories, garments and banks will be kept open.
