Journalist Habibur Rahman killed in road accident

Habibur Rahman, a senior correspondent of Daily Somoyer Alo, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Hatirjheel area of the capital in the early hours of Wednesday.

He was a former organizing secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).

Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, said a pedestrian from Hatirjheel rescued him and brought him to the hospital. He died shortly after being admitted to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Hatirjheel Police Station SI Enamul Haque told reporters, “We came to know that a motorcyclist lost control over its steering and collided with the island near the mosque adjacent to Begunbari Siddique Master Dhal in Hatirjheel around 2.30 am. He was later taken to hospital where doctors declared him dead at around 4 am.”

Habibur Rahman, a post graduate from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Dhaka University, used to work in Awami League beat for The Daily Somyer Alo. He has previously worked in several media outlets.
