Robbery-rape in moving bus: 2 more accused arrested

Two more people were arrested in a raid at Kaliakoir in Gazipur on Thursday night in connection with robbery and gang rape of a woman who boarded the Dhaka-bound Eagle Express bus from Kushtia.

In connection with this, three people were arrested so far in the incident of robbery and rape in a moving bus.

They were arrested by the Detective Police (DB), Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tangail Madhupur police station Mazharul Amin told The Daily Samakal on Friday.

According to police sources, Tangail Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarkar Mohammad Qaiser will present the details at a press conference at his office on Friday.

On Tuesday night, a gang of robbers disguised as passengers boarded an Eagle Paribahan night coach from Kushtia to Chattogram , took control of the vehicle, beat up the passengers, stole from them and then gang raped a woman on the bus.

Around 3 am, the group drove the bus into a sand dune opposite to the Roktipara Jamme Mosque in Modhupur and fled away.

Hekmat Ali, a passenger on the bus, filed a case with Modhupur police station accusing 10 to 12 unknown robbers over the incident.
