Demo staged over Rumpa murder
Students of the Stamford University have staged a demonstration and formed a human chain in the Siddeswari area of the capital demanding the arrest of the murderers of their fellow Rubaiyat Sharmin Rumpa.
On Friday morning around 11am, students from Siddeswari branch of Stamford University took to the front of the Viqarunnisa Noon School and College.
There they formed human chain and demanded a fair investigation into Rumpa's murder and punishment for the culprits involved.
Police have recovered the body of Rumpa from Siddeswari road in the city on Wednesday.
The victim, Rubaiyat Sharmin Rumpa, was a student of the English Department at Stamford University.
Police suspect that Rumpa, aged between 20 and 22, might be killed after falling off from the rooftop of one of the three buildings located in Siddeswari road area.
Rumpa, daughter of Habiganj police inspector Rokon Uddin, lived with mother in Shantibagh in the capital.
