Rifat murder: Rishan Farazi put on 5-day remand
A Barguna court has placed Rishan Farazi, the third key suspect in the Rifat Sharif murder case, on a five-day remand.
Judge Md Sirajul Islam Gazi of the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate in Barguna passed the order on Friday.
Barguna Police Inspector Humayun Kabir, the investigating officer of the case, said Rishan was produced before the court and a seven-day remand was sought to interrogate him.
Maruf Hossain, superintendent of Barguna police, at a press briefing on Thursday announced the arrest of Rishan Farazi.
Rifat, 22, was attacked with sharp weapons near the main gate of Barguna Government College on June 26. His wife Aysha Siddika Minni appeared to be trying to protect him during the broad daylight attack caught on surveillance camera.
Police arrested Minni on Tuesday night after a daylong interrogation. A court granted police five days to interrogate her in custody.
14 suspects have so far been arrested. Seven of them have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the murder.
Meanwhile, the main accused in the case Nayan Bond, was killed in a reported gunfight with police.
