Jubo League leader shot dead in Cox’s Bazar

A Jubo League leader was shot dead allegedly by Rohingya criminals at Jadimura in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Omar Faruk, 30, president of no 9 ward unit Jubo League and son of Abdul Monaf.

Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station, said local people spotted the bullet-hit body of Omar Faruk and informed the matter to police around 11:00 pm.

Later, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue for autopsy.

Osman Goni, elder brother of the Faruk, alleged that a group of Rohingya criminals picked  Faruk up from in front of his residence and shot him taking him to a nearby hill.

The motive behind the killing could not be known immediately. Police are investigating the incident, said the OC.
