Two people died when a landslide occurred during cutting a hill in Ukhiarghona area of Ramu's Kawarkhop union in Cox's Bazar on Tuesday night.

The dead are- Hossan's son Ali Ahmed, 35, and Md Kalu's son Mujibur Rahman,32. Both of them were transport workers.

It is learned that a group of workers, including two victims, were working on the hill at 2am. At that time Ali Ahmed and Mujibur Rahman were buried under the ground. With the help of locals, the police removed the soil and recovered their bodies.

Ramu Upazila Nirbahi Officer Pranoy Chakma went to the spot on Wednesday morning. He confirmed the deaths of the two, saying a gang was cutting hills indiscriminately in the dark of night to fool the administration.

Ramu Police Station OC Ajmiruzzaman said the bodies were sent to the morgue of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Necessary legal action will be taken in this regard.
