They used to forge a NID for Tk1 lakh
Police have arrested five members of a gang involved in making fake national identity cards in the capital.
They used to take Tk80,000 to Tk100,000 to make this identity card, said police.
The Lalbagh Division of the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested them in a raid in the D-Block area of Mirpur's Zoo Road on Saturday night.
The arrestees are- Sumon Parvez (40), Md Majid (42), Siddhartha Shankar Sutradhar (32), Md Anwarul Islam (26) and Md Abdullah Al Mamun (41).
During the arrest, 12 dual, fake and duplicate national identity cards were recovered from their possession, DMP News reported.
The arrestees used these identity cards to help many people get loans from different banks and realised 10 percent of the disbursed loans.
