1 killed, 20 injured in Rohingya camp robber gangs’ shootout

A man has been killed and 20 more people were injured in a shootout between two "robber gangs" at a Rohingya camp in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. 

The incident took place at Chakmarkul camp in Huaikyong of Teknaf upazila on Sunday morning. The dead is Rohingya Nur Hakim, a resident of that camp.

According to the Armed Police Battalion (APBn), there was an hour-long exchange of fire between the Toha forces and another group of robbers. At least 20 people were injured. Besides, a person named Nur Hakim died in the incident.

Confirming the information, APBn inspector Monir Hossain, in-charge of the Chakmarkul Rohingya camp in Huaikyong, said one person was killed in an exchange of fire between the two bandits in the camp and another 20 people were injured. 

The injured have been rescued and are being treated at a hospital under Save the Children, he said, adding that the body was recovered and sent to Cox's Bazar hospital morgue for autopsy.
