Prof Ajoy Roy no more

Ajoy Roy, a former professor of the University of Dhaka, Ekushey Padak winner, physicist, has passed away on Monday.

He breathed his last at around 12:30 pm while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Center (ICU) of BIRDEM Hospital in the capital.

Bangladesh Diabetic Association Director (Public Relations) Farid Kabir confirmed his death to The Daily Samakal.

Professor Ajoy Roy is the father of Avijit Roy, who was killed in an attack carried out by the terrorists. Ajoy Roy was admitted to BIRDEM Hospital about two weeks ago with fever and shortness of breath. He was later taken to the ICU at the hospital when the condition worsened and there he was undergoing treatment.

The founder of the Education Movement Forum, Professor Ajoy Roy is also one of the founders of the Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee. The active participation of freedom fighter Ajoy Roy was also in the language movement and in the mass uprising of 1969.
