The residential halls of Jahangirnagar University will resume on Thursday, a month after it was closed for indefinite period following the students' protest demanding the removal of its Vice-Chancellor.

The university's residential halls will be opened at 10 am on Thursday and the classes, exams will start from Sunday, said Rahima Kaniz, acting registrar of the university, on Wednesday afternoon.

She said that the decision was taken at an emergency syndicate meeting held in the council room of the university's new administrative building at around 4:30 pm.

The decision was made to open the hall on the basis of the opinion of the members of the Syndicate. The Syndicate has sought the cooperation of all concerned to maintain the overall activities of the university, she added.
