Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti election held
The biennial election to Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti on Friday to elect the 21-member new executive committee for 2019-20 term at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) in the city.
The voting began at 8am amid a tight security and continued until 5 pm.
Noted actress Illias Kanchan is conducting the polls as chief election commissioner.
A good number of police were seen deployed in the FDC area on the occasion of holding the election peacefully.
However, voters and film industry people have expressed dissatisfaction due to the strict security measures during the polls.
Actress Moushumi and actor Misha Saudagar are vying for the post of president while Elias Cobra and Jayed Khan are contesting for the position of general secretary of the association.
Monowar Hossain Dipjol, Rubel and Nana Shah are vying for the vice-president’s post while Arman and Sanko Panja are the candidates for assistant general secretary seat.
A total of 449 voters are set to cast their ballots, according to Election Commission sources.
