Cyclone 'Bulbul': Heavy rains, gusty winds in Satkhira

The rain is falling heavily while stormy wind is blowing in the district of Satkhira since Friday morning due to cyclonic storm 'Bulbul'. 

The district administration has been asked to show the great danger signal No. 10.

Meanwhile, school closures have been announced in the district. Leave for the government officials have been cancelled and they were asked to stay in their respective areas. 

Hospitals and community clinics have been ordered to remain open at all times. People in the coastal areas have been safely evacuated.

Satkhira Deputy Commissioner SM Mostafa Kamal said all measures have been taken to face the cyclone 'Bulbul'. District and Upazila administration have introduced monitoring system to know the latest updates on the cyclone round the clock.

He said that as many as 270 sheltering centres have been opened to reduce the potential loss of disaster and to protect the lives of people. Also, 1,200 school-colleges have been set up as alternative shelters.

He also said that instruction has already been given to each union administration to form medical team, fire service team, volunteer teams along with the preparations of ambulances, adequate food and drinking water.
