Khulna Bureau

The forest department is not allowing any tourists to enter into the Sundarbans, the world's largest mangrove forest, in Khulna.

Khulna forest range conservator Moin Uddin Khan said the staff of the 63 camps located inside the forest had started work on Monday to assess the damage of the forest caused by the cyclonic storm 'Bulbul' and in this case, tourists will not be allowed to enter the Sundarbans.

He said that some camps, wood pontoons, jetties and walkways were damaged in the cyclone that made landfall across the coastal districts.

However, no major casualties or fatalities were reported yet. The branches of some plants have been broken, he added.
