Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the state of emergency was declared due to 'misdeeds' of the BNP-led government.

She made the remarks at a meeting on the occasion of the jail killing day at the Krishibid Institution in the capital on Sunday afternoon.

Sheikh Hasina said an emergency was declared in the country due to the misdeeds of the BNP-led government. Domestic, foreign pressures came that led us to take power through elections.

Criticizing the BNP, the Awami League president also said that it is such a party, whose chairperson was jailed for embezzling money of the orphanage.

She said, "Awami League has come to power with the support of the people. My parents have learned us how to love countrymen. If you love the country, you can do it. So, public support is always with us."

The Prime Minister said Bangladesh is a wonder of development all over the world. The dream of the Father of the Nation was to build a golden Bangladesh and we are working for that, she added.
