Fakhrul phones Quader demanding Khaleda's release
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made phone call to Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, demanding release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.
Quader said this at a press conference at the political office of the Awami League president at Dhanmondi in the capital on Friday afternoon.
The AL leader said the court is the legal authority to grant the bail plea of Begum Khaleda Zia.
Replying to a query, he said the graft case against the BNP chief was filed during the caretaker government. So, the case is not political and the government has nothing to do to grant bail to her (Begum Zia).
Quader said the statement made by the BNP leaders about Begum Zia’s physical condition did not match with the report provided by the physicians.
He, however, told journalist that the government is providing better treatment to Begum Zia as the government is quite sincere to this matter.
Urging the BNP to make positive politics by avoiding conflict, violence and revenge, Quader said then public support for BNP will increase.
Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Organizing Secretaries SM Kamal Hossen and Advocate Afzal Hossen, Publicity Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap, Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua and Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan, among others, attended the conference.
