BNP holds rally in Nayapaltan
BNP has held a protest rally in front of party's central office in Nayapaltan in the capital demanding the release of Khaleda Zia from jail.
Thousands of BNP leaders and activists staged the protest rally on Saturday afternoon.
Due to the position of the leaders and activists of the BNP, traffic on both sides of the road has almost stopped.
Police have already arrested some BNP leaders, activists from the protest program and its surrounding areas.
The BNP announced to hold a protest rally at 2pm on Saturday in front of its office as part of a protest program across the country demanding the release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
A large number of police were deployed in front of and around the central office since the morning centring the BNP's program. As a result, the leaders, activists did not take into the road. The BNP men started shouting slogans on the road in front of the office.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Motijheel Zone, Zahidur Rahman Sohag said, "No permission for BNP's today's program has been obtained from the metropolitan police authority. We are staying here for the public interest. '
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku are expected to attend the protest rally.
