Pakistan vs Bangladesh, 1st Test, Day 2
Shan's on a roll
This man has been on a boundary hitting spree. He hit six fours in the space of five overs and has raised a fifty off just 54 balls. Pakistan are on the ascendancy. Bangladesh need a wicket before the break.
Drinks - Pakistan 42/1
Shan Masood has kept the scorecard ticking and Azhar Ali has remained rock solid at the other end. After the early hiccup, Pakistan look comfortable as the players take drinks post the first hour of play. The hosts would wish these two to bat out the session.
Abid Ali has to walk back for a duck! After a Day 1 full of wickets, the second has also begun with an early strike. Bangladesh, who folded for 233, have started brightly because Abid chose to chase a delivery he should've offered judgment to all day long. A good length ball outside off stump - definitely innocuous at the stage of the game - was chased after without any feet movement. The result was an outside edge straight to the wicketkeeper. Pakistan 2 for 1
A sloppy effort with the bat on the opening day meant that Bangladesh could only post 233 on the board. Way too many erratic shots from even the senior statesmen didn't help their cause. Shaheen Afridi was the biggest beneficiary of Bangladesh's approach as he ended up picking four wickets. The visitors were initially reduced to 3/2 after the first two overs and if not for some gutsy display from the likes of Mohammad Mithun, Nazmul Hossain and even Taijul Islam later on, Bangladesh would have struggled to go past 170.
They would have fancied a crack at the hosts right at the end with five overs scheduled to be bowled but bad light gave the Pakistan openers some breathing space. The Bangladesh bowlers now have a huge task in hand and they will have to make use of the new ball in the morning session. Pakistan look favourites for now though to consolidate their position. Hopefully, an interesting session is on the cards to kickstart proceedings. Welcome to the live blog for the second day's play of the first Test.
