Mohammedan Sporting Club captain Shakib Al Hasan has been banned for three matches for violating the BCB Code of Conduct in the Abahani-Mohammedan match and fined Tk 5 lakh.
Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) Chairman Kazi Inam Ahmed announced the punishment at a press conference at the residence of BCB president Nazmul Hasan in the capital's Gulshan on Saturday evening.
Shakib Al Hasan has accepted this punishment. In this case, there will be no further hearing.
Shakib broke the stump two times in protest of the umpire's decision during a Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League game against Abahani on Friday.
During his bowling in the Abahani-Mohammedan match, Shakib made an LBW appeal against Abahani captain Mushfiqur Rahim. But he kicked the stump out of rage as he did not get any response from the umpire Imran Parvez.
The world's best all-rounder also got angry and pulled the stumps again as the umpire stopped the game when it rained in the next over.
On the way back to the dressing room, Shakib was seen looking at the gallery and making indecent gestures.
At that time, Abahani coach Khaled Mahmud Sujan left the dressing room and proceeded towards Mohammedan team. Shakib then started move to Sujan angrily. Later, the cricketers of the two teams left with the two of them.
Going back to Abahani's dressing room, Shakib apologized to Sujan. He also apologized to all for the misconduct on the field through social media platform.
