Israel has operated the first-ever direct commercial flight to Bahrain on Wednesday, a week after signed an agreement with the island kingdom along with the UAE.

An Israeli Airlines Airbus A320, carrying a delegation of Israeli officials, landed at Bahrain International Airport after a nearly three-hour flight from Tel Aviv's Ben-Gurion International Airport, reports AP.

Bahrain, in a statement, said a working team from Israel visited Manama today to discuss areas of cooperation between the two countries. These talks come after the signing of the Declaration of Peace.

Bahrain did not identify the officials taking part, nor say whom they spoke to while in Manama.

However, there was no acknowledgement of the flight from the Israeli government, though Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday spoke by telephone to Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Israel's Foreign Ministry declined to comment.

Bahrain and the UAE signed normalisation agreements with Israel at the White House on September 15, as part of a US diplomatic push as Trump seeks re-election.
