Sadiq Abdullah’s candidature cancelled

The candidature of independent candidate of Barishal-5 constituency, general secretary of Barishal Metropolitan Awami League, Serniawat Sadiq Abdullah, has been cancelled. 

Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal and other Election Commissioners gave this verdict after hearing the appeal at Election Commission Building in Agargaon on Friday morning.

If Sadiq wants, he can appeal against this judgment in the high court.

Zahid Farooq Shamim, the Awami League candidate for that seat, appealed against the cancellation of the nomination papers of Sadiq Abdullah, alleging that Sadiq had given false information in the asset declaration in the affidavit.
