8 die, 1,134 hospitalised with dengue fever in a day

Eight people were died of dengue while 1,134 hospitalised with the Aedes mosquito-borne disease across the country in the past 24 hours till Saturday morning, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

It said as many as 409 were admitted to hospital in Dhaka among the new dengue patients.

With the latest counts, the number of hospitalised dengue patients rose to 71,056 this year. Of them, 350 people succumbed to dengue infections.

According to the DGHS, as many as 4,433 patients are currently undergoing treatment for dengue in hospitals across the country. 

The highest 1,705 people also died of the disease in 2023.
