Kazi Nazrul’s grandson Babul Kazi dies

Babul Kazi, grandson of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, who sustained severe burn injuries at his Banani residence in Dhaka on Saturday, died at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Sunday afternoon.

He breathed his last around 5:30pm at the intensive care unit, said Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident surgeon of the hospital.

Babul, 59, suffered 74 percent burns in a fire followed by an explosion at his residence in Dhaka.

Babul Kazi's two elder sisters, Khilkhil Kazi and Mishti Kazi, are all citizens of Bangladesh.
