Agitating student-people vandalize Dhanmondi-32 residence

Agitating people are vandalising Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital at around 8:00pm on Wednesday.

In protest against the announcement of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joining the virtual session with the leaders and activists of the banned organization Chhatra League, the leaders and activists of the Student Movement Against Discrimination have warned that if Sheikh Hasina gives any speech, Dhanmondi-32 will be bulldozed. 

In addition, the July Revolutionary Alliance announced a 'Long March to Dhanmondi-32' programme at around 9 pm on Wednesday.

The student movement against discrimination announced a procession programme towards Dhanmondi No. 32 around Sheikh Hasina's speech. 

Although the procession was supposed to start from Shahbagh at 8 pm, students and crowds began gathering in the Dhanmondi 32 area from the afternoon. By evening, a large crowd was seen there and various anti-fascist slogans could be heard.

At one stage, the agitated students and crowds broke the gate of the house at Dhanmondi No. 32 and started vandalizing it.

Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police SN Nazrul Islam said, “We were not aware of such a programme”.
