Child’s throat slit body recovered in Pallabi

Police have recovered the throat-slit body of a child named Lamisha, 8, in Pallabi in the capital. 

A neighbour woman has been arrested in the incident. Her husband Sohel Rana, who is suspected of being the accused, is absconding. 

Police recovered the child’s body from a house in Pallabi Millat Camp around 11 am on Tuesday.

The deceased Lamisa is the daughter of Hannan, a resident of the area. 

Hannan works in a travel agency. They live on the third floor of the building.

According to police and local sources, a man named Sohel Rana lived in the house next to the same building. He worked in a rickshaw garage. As they were neighbours, Lamisa was acquainted with Sohel’s family. After not finding the child in the morning, the family members started searching. At one stage, her throat-slit body was recovered from Sohel’s house. Panic spread in the area when the incident became known.

Later, upon receiving information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body. 

However, Sohel Rana has been absconding since the incident. The police have arrested Sohel Rana’s wife.

Pallabi Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Emdadul Haque said, “We have recovered the child’s body. It is not yet known why she was killed. The incident is being investigated seriously. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved.”
