ACC to work to meet people’s expectations: New chairman

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will work independently, said the new chairman of the organisation, former Supreme Court Justice AKM Asaduzzaman. 

He said that they will work to brighten the image of the ACC and meet the expectations of the people.

He said these things in response to questions from journalists while leaving the ACC office on Wednesday. At that time, the two new commissioners, Dr Jahangir Alam Khan and Dr Md Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan, were present.

The new chairman said, “We have started work. We want to work according to the expectations of the people of the country. The image of the ACC will be restored. We will make every effort to eliminate corruption from the country.”

Earlier, the new chairman and two commissioners officially joined the ACC on Tuesday morning. Later, they held a meeting with senior officials and other officials of the commission and talked about their responsibilities and activities.

The new commission took office about five and a half months after the resignation of the previous commission on March 3. 

Former Supreme Court Justice AKM Asaduzzaman has taken charge as the chairman of the new commission, and Dr Jahangir Alam Khan and Dr Md Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan have taken charge as commissioners.
