CJ Sinha is a cancer patient: Law Minister

Law Minister Anisul Huq has said the Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha went on the leave for treatment as he was suffering from various diseases including cancer.
The minister said this while briefing media at his Secretariat office in Dhaka on Tuesday.
"CJ Sinha didn't go on leave by pressure. He was suffering from cancer and many other ailments. He took a month’s leave as he needs rest," Anisul said.
"We believe the chief justice. He is now ill. President granted him a month's leave as per his prayer and the regulation," he said.
In response to queries regarding allegations that the chief justice was forced into leave, the minister said the allegation is totally baseless and those who don't believe in democracy are claiming such.
Meanwhile, Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah took the charge in the absence of CJ Sinha, who has taken a month’s leave from today on health grounds.
Sinha was appointed as the chief justice of the Supreme Court on January 17, 2015. His term will end on January 31, 2018.
He faced widespread criticism amid a row over the SC’s decision to dismiss the 16th constitutional amendment and some of the observations included in it.
