Public suffer as bus services halted ahead of BNP rally

Bus services from nearby districts have suddenly been halted ahead of BNP's rally at Suhrawardy Udyan causing an immense suffering for the commuters towards Dhaka.

People in Dhaka are also experiencing a shortage of public transport. Hundreds of commuters, mostly students and working people, were seen waiting for public transports at the bus stoppages.

The BNP's rally is set to be held at historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital in the afternoon. 

Meanwhile, BNP alleged that the government has stopped public bus services to the capital from different adjacent districts in a planned way to prevent the gathering of people at its Suhrawardy Udyan rally. 

Police are not preventing the public transports towards Dhaka, said Gazipur Highway Police Station OC Abdul Hai. He rather suspected other causes in this regard.       

On Friday last, BNP announced to hold the rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan on Wednesday marking what it said the civil-military ‘uprising on November 7, 1975’.

Later, the party deferred it to Sunday for various reasons.
