HC orders Tk 4.62 cr compensation for Tareque’s family

The High Court on Sunday ordered payment of Tk  4.62 as compensation to the family of renowned filmmaker Tareque Masud in a case filed over his death in a road accident.

An HC bench of Justice Zinat Ara and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo passed the order.

Earlier on Wednesday, the court stayed pronouncement of the verdict in the case until Sunday, reports UNB.

The driver has been ordered to pay Tk 30,00,000, the insurance company concerned Tk 80,000 and while rest amount has to be paid by the transport owner.

The court asked them to pay the compensation money within next three months.

The trial in the case started on March 13, 2016.

Masud and Munir were killed in an accident on Jan 13, 2011 in Manikganj and the compensation cases were filed on Feb 2, 2012.
