Woman, daughter found dead in city house

Police recovered the body of a woman and her minor daughter from a house near Ahmedbagh community center under Sabujbagh police station on Tuesday. 

The deceased were identified as Shantona Begum,26, wife of electrician Mamun and their 18-month-old daughter Mahfuza. 

Being informed by locals around 8:00am, police broke open the door only to find Shantona hanging from the ceiling and Mahfuza’s body lying on the floor. 

Recently an extramarital affair developed between Shantona’s sister Sarna, who had been staying in their house, and her husband Mamun, said Sabujbagh thana officer-in-charge Quddus Fakir.

Shantona might have taken her own life after killing her daughter, said the OC.

The bodies were sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.
