Transport workers occupy streets, no buses on roads

The transport workers have taken to the streets of the city amid protests of the students demanding safe roads.   

This scenario was seen at several points of Dhaka on Sunday. Leaders and activists from the ruling Awami League party were also seen at some places.  

Meanwhile, the students also took to the streets in different points of the capital for 8th consecutive day. They were seen chanting slogan demanding safe roads along with controlling traffic. 

People, especially the office-goers and the patients, are facing immense sufferings for lack of public transports.     

Many people were seen moving on foot and some taking rickshaws to reach their destinations.  

On July 29, two students of Dhaka’s Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College -- Diya Khanam Mim, 16, and Abdul Karim Rajib, 17, -- were killed as a bus of ‘Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan’ ploughed through some students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital on Airport Road. 

Protests sparked across the country following the incident. Students took to the streets demanding safety on roads and a reform to the transport sector.
