Photographer Shahidul Alam gets bail

High Court granted bail to photographer Shahidul Alam in a case filed against him under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act after staying behind bars for over three months.

A HC bench of Justice Sheikh Abdul Awal and Bhismadev Chakrabortty passed the order on Thursday. 

According to Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua, a lawyer for Shahidul, now there is no legal bar for Shahidul to get released from jail following the High Court order.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, however, said that an appeal petition will be moved before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the HC order.

Detectives arrested Shahidul Alam from his Dhanmondi residence on August 5 and a case under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act was filed against him with Ramna Police Station on August 6.
