Allocation of polls symbols begins

Allocation of polls symbols to candidates of the upcoming general election has been started. The candidates can start the formal electioneering after the allocation of symbols on Monday.      

Polls symbols are being allocated to the candidates of 15 parliamentary seats under the Dhaka metropolitan area from the Divisional Commissioner Office, Dhaka at capital's Shegunbagicha. 

Besides, the local returning officers across the country have begun allocating polls symbols to the candidates who will contest the 11th parliamentary election slated for December 30.  

As per the electoral code of conduct, the formal electioneering will be started after allocation of polls symbols while it will be ended 32 hours before starting the voting.    

So, election campaigns will be ended on December 28 midnight as the voting is scheduled to be started on December 30 morning. The candidates, however, will get only 19 days for electioneering.
